The Producer Responsibility Scheme on Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WPRS) has been fully implemented in 2018. This will provide a long-term solution to potential land contamination and environmental problems arising from mishandling WEEE during delivery, storage and dismantling processes, marking another important milestone in Hong Kong's waste reduction and recycling efforts.

Vendors are required to provide consumers with a recyclable label (Figure 1) to distinguish the Regulated electric equipment under The Producer Responsibility Scheme on Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WPRS)
(Figure 1)
Vendors of controlled electrical appliances are required to have a free removal service (Figure 2) endorsed by the Environmental Protection Department (EPD) and arrange for consumers free removal service for their abandoned electrical appliances.
The vendor is also required to provide a "Free removal service selection record" form (Figure 3) to the customer to fill out the information and Free removal service selection.
